Valleyview RCMP cancelled an Amber Alert Monday morning after officers located a seven-year-old girl and arrested a suspect in connection with her disappearance.

The alert, issued at 10:15 a.m. across Alberta, was called off at 11:45 a.m., roughly 90 minutes after it went out, police said. Authorities have not released detailed information about where the child was found or the circumstances of the arrest.

Who was involved

Police identified the girl as Aspen Wilson and named the suspect as her stepfather, Alexander Stone. According to police descriptions circulated with the alert:

  • Aspen Wilson — age: 7, height about 1.22 metres (four feet), slim, with curly shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes.
  • Alexander Stone — height about 1.96 metres (six feet five inches), weight about 84 kilograms (185 pounds).
  • Vehicle of interest — a 2004 Chevrolet Venture bearing Alberta licence plate CWY 3459.

At the time the alert was issued, police said Stone may have been heading toward Slave Lake or Red Deer. Authorities advised the public not to approach the vehicle or the suspect and to contact emergency services immediately if he was seen.

"If Stone is located, police advise people not to approach the vehicle or suspect but to call 911 immediately or contact RCMP at 403-310-RCMP."

Public safety and next steps

The cancellation notice did not provide further details about the child's location or the reason for the arrest. Valleyview RCMP asked anyone with additional information to contact their local police detachment or call RCMP at 310-RCMP.

Amber Alerts are issued in Alberta when police confirm a child has been abducted and is in imminent danger. The public plays a key role by sharing alert information and reporting sightings to 911 or the RCMP so officers can respond quickly.
