The Alberta RCMP are asking for the public’s help to locate two young children who were taken from the hamlet of Valhalla Centre, near Beaverlodge in the Grande Prairie area, on July 7.
Details of the disappearance
Police say six‑year‑old Lanakai Morrison was taken by his biological mother, Krista Morrison, who is 35, along with her partner, Daniel Ludwig, and the couple’s four‑year‑old son, Karl Morrison. RCMP have issued warrants for the two adults for abduction in contravention of a custody or parenting order.

The Amber Alert issued the day after the children were taken was cancelled roughly 24 hours later, with police saying the criteria for continuing the alert were no longer met.
Where they might be
Investigators say the group has been highly mobile. There were reported sightings in British Columbia on July 8 near Fort St. John and indications they were at one point in the Okanagan Valley near Vernon. RCMP say they could be travelling in northern B.C., the Yukon or elsewhere in Alberta.
- Initial vehicle: 2015 Toyota Tundra, Alberta plate CTN9517 — later located by police.
- Believed current vehicle: 2006 red Ford F‑350, Alberta plate CXW8820, with lift and larger tires.
- Police say the group may have switched to a motorhome at some point.

RCMP say the public should not approach the adults if sighted. Anyone with information about the location of the children or the two adults, or who has seen the listed vehicles, is asked to contact their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers.
The case remains under investigation by the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. Police did not provide further details about the underlying custody order or what prompted the abduction charge.
