Peel Regional Police investigators have publicly identified two 17-year-old brothers from Brampton as suspects in a deadly shooting that left a man in his 20s dead earlier this month.
Incident and victims
Police say officers responded at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 5 to reports of a shooting in the area of Edenbrook Hill Drive and Earlsbridge Boulevard. An adult male in his 20s was located with a gunshot wound, transported to a trauma centre and later died of his injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released.
Suspects and court-authorized publication
Investigators with the Homicide Bureau have named the suspects as Shemii Whittaker and Shemel Whittaker, both 17 and residents of Brampton. A court order issued under Section 110(4) of the Youth Criminal Justice Act permits police to publish the youths’ names and photographs in connection with this investigation.
If seen, members of the public are urged not to approach them and to call 911 immediately.
Police have warned the pair should be considered armed and dangerous. They are being urged to retain legal counsel and to surrender to authorities. Investigators also reminded the community that harbouring or assisting the suspects could lead to arrest and criminal charges.

How long the information may be shared and how to report tips
The court order permitting publication of the identities and photos of the two young persons is effective until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, or until either youth is arrested, whichever occurs first. After the order expires, published material identifying them must be removed.
