Peel Regional Police say a man operating a scooter was taken to a local trauma centre in critical condition after a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of Cawthra Road and The Queensway East in Mississauga on Wednesday. The collision occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m., north of the Queen Elizabeth Way.

Officers later revised the victim’s condition. Shortly after 3:30 p.m., Peel Regional Police reported the person’s injuries were considered not to be life threatening and that the intersection had been reopened to traffic.

Police have not released the injured man’s age or other personal details. Authorities also did not specify the exact type of scooter involved, nor the make or model of the vehicle that struck him. Investigators remain on scene, and police have not provided further information about how the collision occurred.

While emergency crews worked at the scene, Peel police urged motorists to avoid the area and pick alternate routes. The force detailed specific redirections for motorists:
- Northbound traffic on Cawthra Road redirected to The Queensway East eastbound lanes.
- Westbound traffic on The Queensway East redirected to northbound Cawthra Road.
- Southbound traffic on Cawthra Road redirected to The Queensway East westbound lanes.
