Assault, robbery and forcible confinement charges laid in rural Manitoba case
Manitoba RCMP say four people have been charged after a 19‑year‑old man was restrained with tape, beaten and left near a wooded area in the rural municipality of Killarney‑Turtle Mountain earlier this week.
Police received the initial report shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, when the victim was preparing to leave the community in a vehicle, RCMP said in a Friday news release. Investigators allege multiple people held the man down, wrapped him in a blanket and bound his hands and ankles with electrical tape. The victim was then assaulted with a stick and had personal items taken, police said.
Arrests and charges
Four local residents, aged between 16 and 31, were arrested in relation to the incident. RCMP said the accused and the victim were known to one another.

Details from the investigation
RCMP allege the attackers partially masked themselves, took two cellphones and two small knives from the victim, then placed him into the cargo area of an off‑road vehicle and left him near a wooded location some distance from town. The 19‑year‑old was able to free himself from the tape and returned home before reporting the incident, police said.
All four accused have since been released with conditions. No further details about those conditions were included in the RCMP release.
