The Service de police de Granby announced Wednesday that investigators recovered a substantial quantity of suspected illegal drugs, cash and trafficking paraphernalia following coordinated searches of two homes in the city.
Searches carried out after public tips
Police executed search warrants on rue du Centre and avenue du Parc during the morning of July 14 after receiving information from residents, the service said. Officers from the crimes unit and the ACCES Cannabis squad carried out the operation.
Items seized and listed by police include:
- Nearly 4,000 tablets (police did not disclose the suspected substance);
- More than 100 grams of cannabis and more than 100 grams of cannabis concentrate;
- Over $2,000 in Canadian currency; and
- Scales, small bags and other equipment police say was used for trafficking.
“Without their collaboration, certain investigations could not be completed,” the police statement said, thanking residents who provided information.
Suspects identified, charges possible
Police identified two principal suspects: a man and a woman in their 30s. The statement notes the man is already known to police. No arrests or charges had been announced when the information was released; the investigation remains active.
The operation was conducted under the ACCES Cannabis framework, a provincial initiative coordinated by the Quebec Ministry of Public Security and introduced in 2018. The program aims to curb the illicit cannabis market and limit young people's access to illegal products.
