Niagara Regional Police have identified a homicide scene in the Thorold Stone Road area of Niagara Falls after a man was shot on the evening of Thursday, July 16.

What happened

Officers from 2 District responded about 8:50 p.m. to a residence near Dorchester Road where a male had been shot. The injured man was taken to hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services and subsequently died from his injuries, police said.

Suspects and vehicle description

Investigators believe two people attended the home and fired a handgun. The Niagara Regional Police Service’s Homicide Unit has taken carriage of the file as detectives treat the incident as targeted, while warning the public the firearm and suspects remain at large.

  • Suspect 2: female, estimated 18–25, dark brown hair, brown eyes. Clothing seen: baggy blue sweatpants, grey hooded sweatshirt and white shoes.
  • Vehicle: newer white Nissan SUV, possibly similar to a Rogue; suspects parked nearby and fled in that vehicle.

Investigators are asking businesses and residents near Thorold Stone Road and Dorchester Road to review any surveillance footage that might show the suspects or the vehicle. The service is urging the two individuals to obtain legal counsel and surrender.

"The investigation is in its preliminary stages and more information will be made available as it becomes known," police said.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
