RCMP investigators say a late-night collision just north of Moncton killed a motorcyclist and led to an impaired-driving charge. The crash occurred at the intersection of Scotch Settlement Road and Route 115 in the community of Irishtown at about 11:49 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police believe a southbound vehicle turning from Route 115 onto Scotch Settlement Road struck a motorcycle that was travelling northbound on Route 115. The motorcycle rider, identified by RCMP as a 44-year-old man from Saint-Antoine, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Charges and immediate aftermath
The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old woman from Cocagne, was arrested at the scene and charged with impaired driving causing death, according to the RCMP press release. She was taken into custody for a breathalyzer test and, the release says,
“She has since been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.”
