York Region is beginning two coordinated projects on Davis Drive in Newmarket that will reduce lanes during daytime hours and aim to improve traffic flow and safety in the corridor.
What the work involves
The region plans to extend the centre median on the east side of Davis Drive at Alexander Road and Huron Heights Drive, and separately upgrade the traffic signals at Davis Drive and Leslie Street. The median extension is a shorter job scheduled for July to August, while the signal replacement is a larger project expected to continue until November.

Work for both projects will generally be carried out Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Lane reductions will be in place during those hours, though the region said the roads will remain open and access to local properties will be preserved. The region noted work may be rescheduled because of weather.
