The RCMP say two children who were the subject of an Amber Alert issued in Alberta earlier this month could be travelling through the Yukon as the investigation continues.
Search area spans multiple jurisdictions
Mounties issued the Amber Alert on July 7 after six-year-old Lanakai Morrison was reported taken from Valhalla Centre, a hamlet near Grande Prairie. Police said Lanakai was with his biological mother, Krista Morrison, 35, and that her partner, Daniel Ludwig, 35, was with them along with four-year-old Karl Morrison. The alert was cancelled on July 10 when RCMP said there was no reasonable expectation the public in Alberta could act on its instructions.
“They are very mobile and could be in Northern B.C., the Yukon or Alberta,”
On Friday, RCMP reiterated that the two children are still believed to be with the two adults and that searches have extended beyond Alberta. Investigators reported sightings in the Okanagan Valley near Vernon and indicated the group may have been travelling toward the Kootenays.
Vehicles of interest and public assistance
Police say the group was last believed to be driving a 2006 red Ford F350 with a lift and larger tires, or they may be travelling in a motorhome. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the adults, the children or the described vehicles to contact law enforcement.

Even small details — a sighting of the described truck or motorhome, or signs of children travelling with adults not known to the community — can be important to investigators. For safety reasons, police advise members of the public not to approach suspected vehicles or individuals but to report any information to law enforcement.
The RCMP continue to co-ordinate across provincial and territorial lines as the search proceeds.
