ChristianaCare has closed on a three-parcel property at 20769 DuPont Blvd. as the health system advances plans for a new Georgetown campus, Sussex County property records show. The sale, recorded Aug. 13, listed the purchase price at $6.75 million.
Project scope and partners
The health system has proposed a combined facility featuring a comprehensive outpatient health centre alongside a smaller-scale neighbourhood hospital. Public details released by the system describe a facility of about 42,000 square feet with an estimated development cost of roughly $65.1 million.
Plans for the neighbourhood hospital portion call for:
- eight emergency department beds, and
- eight inpatient beds.
ChristianaCare is working with Emerus on the neighbourhood hospital element. Emerus operates or partners in more than 45 acute-care facilities nationally and has previously collaborated with ChristianaCare on other projects.

When first announced in February, ChristianaCare expected the campus to open in late 2028. The system counts the Georgetown project among an array of investments: it has outlined about $865 million in planned spending across Delaware over a three-year period.
