The Saskatchewan Cattle Association has appointed Kevin Boon as its next chief executive officer, the organisation confirmed. Boon will assume the role on Nov. 1, 2026, relocating to Regina to lead the provincial industry body.
Experienced industry executive to lead provincial association
Boon brings more than four decades of experience in the beef sector and most recently served 17 years as general manager of the BC Cattlemen’s Association. His résumé also includes positions with Alberta Beef Producers, the Canadian Cattle Association, the Beef Information Centre and the Canadian Beef Check-off Agency.
SCA chair Chad Ross said the organisation expects Boon’s cross‑provincial relationships to strengthen advocacy for Saskatchewan producers and to help the association build on a recent strategic review process led by interim leadership.
“Kevin has spent his career working for cattle producers, and we see a real opportunity to build on the relationship and experience he brings from the BC Cattlemen’s Association,”
The transition will see Boon replace interim CEOs Janice Bruynooghe and Sandy Russell of Spring Creek Land & Cattle Consulting, who led the SCA through a strategic review. Grant McLellan served as SCA CEO from 2022 until early 2025.

Producers and stakeholders can expect continuity in advocacy work alongside renewed emphasis on interprovincial collaboration.
